“Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives – choice, not chance, determines your destiny.”

PASSION, INTEGRITY, EXPERIENCE
I have over 19 years experience in Athlete Development and Coaching, working with individuals, teams, and coaches of all levels from recreational right up to elite level.
I hold an honours degree in Sports Science from Brunel University, London and a Masters in Strength and Conditioning from St Mary’s University, London. I am always keen on improving my knowledge and keeping up to date with current research and ‘best practice’. Alongside my formal education I attend many conferences and mentorship programs.
I have experienced that player development journey which started as a teenager at regional level and culminated in representing the Cork Senior Gaelic Football team for many seasons. Many honors were achieved with the highlights being the Senior All Ireland Championship win and All Star award in 2010.
This journey is on going as i still represent my club, Clyda Rovers at senior club level, and I get great satisfaction in training and competing at a high level. I also feel this provides me with a unique insight as I can continue my coaching journey.
“With the right preparation & attitude you are capable of anything”
I have had the opportunity to work with variety of senior inter county teams over the last number of years which has provided me with great development and experiences. Similar as when I was a player I have got to meet and learn from so many different people and backgrounds.
This would involve GAA coaches, trainers, strength & conditioning coaches, sports science personnel, physiotherapists, sports psychologists, and academic researchers. These people have had massive impact on my development, and of whom I learnt a huge amount. It is those experiences that help guide my training approach today.

I have worked with Paudie in his role as S&C/Coach of the Eire Og senior football team from 2019-24. Over this period, Paudie’s commitment to developing us collectively as a team and individually as players and athletes has been first class. Paudie’s application and attention to detail in the various elements of athletic development and coaching are his greatest strength’s. From S&C to skills execution to tactical awareness, Paudie’s ability to create a culture of self improvement and teamwork makes playing football enjoyable and rewarding.(Premier Intermediate Champions 2019 & Senior A Champions 2020)
I worked with Paudie when he was the strength and conditioning coach with the Tipperary senior footballers. I had suffered a number of soft tissue injuries previously so had to be mindful of this when training. I found Paudie extremely helpful with managing my training load both in the gym and on the field. He was extremely professional and tailored my training plans to suit my individual needs. I suffered no injuries while Paudie was S&C and he played a big role in this.
I also felt I took my aerobic fitness on the field and my power and strength in the gym to a higher level under his guidance. Paudie’s attention to detail was second to none. I am very thankful to Paudie for how he helped me and would recommend him to anybody.
I first worked with Paudie with Cork and subsequently with individual athlete development programs and found him top class to deal with. His programs were specific to me and tailored towards football and the club and county season. It was a huge help having an organised program to peak at the right time of the year and something I wish I had started earlier in my career. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone who wishes to develop themselves as an athlete.
I have engaged with Paudie in relation to a number of underage teams, specific players and squads from club to development squad level in recent times. His sessions have been exceptional additions, a highlight, to many of my teams seasons and to myself as a coach bringing an injection of freshness, unparalleled experience and attention to detail.
As coaches we are always looking to improve ourselves and constantly looking for ways to look outside the box. Paudie has always ensured coach education and mentoring was part of his approach to delivering targeted sessions to my teams and athletes.
Through initial phone calls prior to the sessions, during his time working with the teams and individuals and at the end of any of the sessions, he would always discuss, explain and challenge the philosophy, principles and ideas surrounding the targets of the sessions. It always meant that his contribution had a more long lasting positive effect on my coaching and the team’s and athletes performance.
His key strength throughout all engagements has been his communication with players. When dealing with players at teenage level, how we communicate aspects of our game is crucially important for the development and understanding. Paudie is an extremely impressive communicator, meaning solutions to aspects of athlete development and the game and their importance in relation to the game are clear, simple and concise.
Players have always come away with an increased awareness with regards to their performance and roles with greater confidence and enthusiasm. I would highly recommend Paudie in any aspect of coaching and guidance for any athlete, team or coach who want to be better, who want to succeed and meet the greatest potential they can.
Paudie’s preparation, level of thought, and overall attention to detail is always exceptional.
What sets him apart, however, is that he has the knowledge and experience to back up that preparation, and the ability to implement it.
Paudie puts a huge emphasis on match specific training sessions. This exposes players to many conditions and challenges which lead to significant individual and team development. He is an asset to any team.
I was very thankful for Paudie’s stewardship, when a daughter of mine was pursuing sporting excellence and he methodically assessed and fine tuned her technique and performance by implementing suitable training programs.
“I have worked with Paudie for the past two years (and continue to do so) in his capacity as Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Kenmare Shamrocks Senior football team. As a senior club in Kerry, we have a very demanding schedule between the Senior Club and County Championships, as well as an extensive County League programme. The games are played week on week, but our injury profile over the past two years has been incredibly resilient, thanks to Paudie. The knowledge that he brings in terms of injury prevention is enormous.
His attention to detail is hugely impressive, and he thinks deeply about the S & C programme he sets for the players, regularly tweaking it as he deems fit, depending on training and match schedules. He regularly takes the lead in training sessions also, where the players always respond to his enthusiasm and expertise. He replicates match-specific situations, and everything worked on in a session has a purpose.
The quality that sets him apart however is the breadth of his football knowledge, which perfectly complements his S & C expertise, to provide a fully rounded base for players to rely on. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Paudie, he has been a valued sounding board for me and the rest of management throughout our time working together, and it has been our very good fortune to have him on board with us.
I could not recommend Paudie highly enough to any coach, team, or individual athlete who wants to explore the ceiling of their potential, and not leave things to chance”.
